HISTORY AND MISSION
Haiti Cardiac Alliance is dedicated to working with partners to scale up the availability of life-saving cardiac surgery to all Haitian children who need it.

Haiti Cardiac Alliance works with partners to expand access to life-saving pediatric cardiac surgery by:
Building and maintaining a national cardiac surgery waiting list and database of pediatric heart disease (with all key medical information accessible to partners in cloud-based formats);
Developing a unified referral system throughout Haiti for channeling children onto this waiting list, and selecting them for surgery off of it;
Convening a standing clinical triage committee to ensure that children who are at greatest risk of imminent death get matched for surgery first;
Structuring a robust system for clinical follow-up after surgery, by integrating follow-up visits into regularly scheduled cardiac diagnosis clinics that our organization and other partners will conduct;
Mobilizing partners to establish a permanent pediatric cardiac center of excellence in Haiti, as part of a long-term strategy to increase capacity among Haitians to deliver high-quality pediatric cardiac services;
Maintaining a network of overseas referral hospitals in the Cayman Islands, United States, United Kingdom, and elsewhere that are capable of accepting cases too complex to be attempted in-country, and directly accompanying children and their parents as they travel for care at these hospitals.
